Gifted? Talented? Highly able? High-potential learners? Why do we even need a label? – AAEGT Affiliate Event

DATE

Thursday 21 March 2019

TIME

Afternoon

SCHOOL/ORGANISATION

GTCASA

TARGET AUDIENCE

Teachers, parents and anyone interested in giftedness

DESCRIPTION

The Gifted and Talented Children’s Association of South Australia (GTCASA) in conjunction with Catholic Education South Australia present a session for educators, parents and carers interested in better engaging with high performance students. The session will be followed by tea and coffee with an opportunity to network.

Students who are capable of learning at a greater pace, depth and complexity than their same-age peers are often excluded from conversations about inclusive practices in educational contexts. This session will explain the terminology and the importance of understanding, valuing and providing for these students. Inclusive practice is a way for all students to feel a sense of belonging and community in the classroom, in order for them to learn and grow. Importantly, how can we ensure that inclusive practices stretch to include the gifted and talented students?
